Something Lost & Something Found
Completely re-imagined following its Off-Broadway run two years ago, new musical Found lands in Philadelphia. Created by Hunter Bell, Lee Overtree and Eli Bolin, Found is inspired by the magazine of the same name, which collects found writings - be they scribbled letters, post-it note reminders, or homework assignments - submitted by people from around the globe. The musical's main narrative follows the story of the the magazine's founding, weaved together with weird, hilarious and moving writings from throughout its publishing history.
What is Found About?
Fired from his job and dispossessed of all his possessions by a mugger, it's fair to say that Davy isn't having the best day. It's a cloudy day in Chicago, and as Davy trudges towards his car in his socks (the mugger took his shoes too), he realises he's in need of a real brainwave to turn his life around. As fate would have it, a brainwave presents itself in the form of a scribbled note stuck to his car windshield.
Angry, resentful, and in fact not intended for Davy at all, but some unlucky soul named Mario, the note is a perfect glimpse into a stranger's world. It's the genesis for Davy's Found Magazine, an irregularly published collection of found writings from all over the world. It's a beautiful and pure concept, but can Davy keep Found afloat, and keep it true to its original purpose.
