Why See Private Lives?

Considered one of Noel Coward's finest works, Private Lives premiered on the London Stage in 1930, with Laurence Olivier and Coward himself among the cast. This comedy of manners revolves around a divorced couple, who both remarry, and find themselves in the rather awkward position of occupying adjacent honeymoon suites in a hotel. They soon discover that their old romance is all too easily reignited, new spouses or no new spouses. Witty and fizzy in only the way that Coward can be, Private Lives is an elegant treat.
