A masterful display of virtuosity
Virtuosic pianist Andras Schiff joins with the Philadelphia Orchestra to perform and conduct two astonishing showcases of classical piano mastery; Haydn's Piano Concerto in D major and Mozart's stunning Piano Concerto No. 27, sandwiching a rendition of Schubert's exquisite Second Symphony! The artistry Schiff brings to the instrument is renowned and is the perfect vessel for these iconic piano works.
These two pieces demonstrate the range and drama the piano brings to the compositions of the masters with Haydn's piano concerto an energetic and playful affair whilst Mozart's brings the yearning that may be expected for a piece first performed in the year of his death. Schubert's second symphony is an offering that far belies the composer's years when writing it, being still only a teenager upon its completion. Three splendid pieces to experience with the Philadelphia Orchestra!
