Why See Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra- All American: Gershwin and Beyond?
This land is your land
Music created and inspired by America is the subject of this delightful mixed bill. Featuring premiere Gershwin interpreter Jon Kimura Parker at the keys and conducting by rising star James Gaffigan, let the PSO take you on a weaving journey from sea to shining sea.
Including Promenade (Walking the Dog), first composed for the 1937 Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire picture Shall We Dance and Piano Concerto in F, the evening will also touch on Dvorak's evocative 'American suite', climaxing with Philly's own, Samuel Barber's Symphony No.1.
Performance date: 24 November 2017
