Dig out your family tartan and assemble any Outlander fans for this enchanting program from the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra as they transport you to the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands with popular pieces from Bruch, Mendelssohn and Peter Maxwell Davies.
Hear the alluring tunes of Scottish folk-lore and song as transcribed by Bruch in his Scottish Fantasy, alongside Maxwell Davies' bag pipe laden new piece based upon a joyous wedding on the Orkney Islands.
Closing the program is Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony, as birthed by a walking tour of the country in 1829. Struck with inspiration in the ruins of Holyrood Chapel in Edinburgh, he paints a lush picture of the beguiling landscape.
