Why See Amanda Palmer?
Visionary songstress Amanda Palmer heads out on tour
Outspoken activist and alt rocker goddess Amanda Palmer has been pushing boundaries since bursting onto the scene in the early 2000's as one half of the cabaret/indie-rock duo The Dresden Dolls. A pioneer of crowd funding, her solo career has seen the fearless embrace of a new music model that allows for an open exchange between musician and audience.
This DIY and hands-on attitude has certainly ruffled some feathers, but Palmer is first and foremost a theatrical provocateur, tackling political and social issues through her music. In contrast to her dark subject matter, her songs are upbeat and hook-laden, witty and mischievous. Armed with her trusty ukulele, Palmer boldly goes where many will one day follow.
Performance date: 6 April 2019
