MAMMA MIA, LOVED IT!

I've seen Mamma Mia on Broadway 3 times. This was my 1st time seeing it at the Walnut Theater and it did not disappoint! First of all, the Walnut Theater is a lovely theater and I will plan to see other shows there in the future; the seating was great and it was most accommodating having a ladies room that several can use at the same time (unlike most Broadway theaters). As for the musical, the acting, singing and dancing were top notch! I am not sure what some of the other reviewers are referring to with regards to children at this show. I do not believe Mamma Mia is a show for children and I am very pleased that this performance was geared towards the adult audience as it made the show that much more enjoyable. Thanks to all who were involved with this production and I'll simply end with, "Bravo!" On a separate note, we had a delightful lunch at Barra Rossa Ristorante which I would highly recommend.

MAMMA MIA

I've seen quite a few musicals but they are definitely not my favorite theater genre. My wife loves musicals so for Mother's Day I bought us first row seats for a weeknight show. I have to admit that I was captivated ( don't tell any of my buds I'll deny it ). The acting, singing ,music and story line were all fabulous. I highly recommend this show to any man that has to take his wife to the theater ( as paybacks for her going to ball games and boxing matches with him., like me ). You won't be disappointed . Buck up for good seats.

BROADWAY QUALITY ON WALNUT STREET

This mad me proud to be from Philadelphia. The players were superb and the overall quality of the performance reminded me of some of the great off-Broadway productions. Its well worth seeing and the venue is superb. The only problem was that my car was broken into and stuff was stolen. The police never showed and the excuse was that they were dealing with life and death situations. When i went to the station at least six of them were sitting around doing nothing. While one example shows why Philadelphia is a great place to attend events the other shows why people outside the city should never go in.

MAMMA MIA IS NOT TO BE MISSED...

This current production now playing at the Walnut Street Theatre is nothing short of amazing. The singing is great, the acting is great, and the dancing is great...plus it features one of the sexiest performers to ever appear in the role of Sky (Schyler Conaway). The whole family will have a blast; young, old or in-between, you will be up on your feet and dancing along with the performers on stage! Again this show will blow you away.

MAMA MIA!

I, as well as the entire audience, was under the spell of the last night's production of Mama Mia. The incredibly talented cast paired with Abba's music make this a hit to be enjoyed by all.

SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT

I looked forward to this show for months, only to cringe the moment Sophie sang her first notes. I looked at my 12 year old daughter during these first few notes, and she also had a painful expression on her face. Maybe Laura Giknis is a great singer, but her voice does not fit this role. She jumped between a childish character and a pouty grown-up. We suffered through. My daughter and her friend (also 12), pointed out how so much of the dancing (although wonderful) seemed unconnected to the play. They also stated that there wasn't much of a set design. The greatest thing about this musical were the friends of Donna, Rosie and Tanya, and the 3 Dads, Sam, Harry, and Bill. These characters were funny, lively, and well-chosen for their parts. Parts of the show were inappropriate for children, and unnecessarily so. Most of it was funny, but there were moments when I watched, and just thought, "Why?" We hung on until the end. I did enjoy the whole cast performance at the end.

MAMMA MIA

If you have seen Mamma Mia before, you will probably be disappointed. We saw the original cast in London and then saw the play at the Kimmel a few years back. Both delightful. this play was a SHADOW of the original. The music was lost in the shortcuts and some of the acting was subpar. The sets were uninspired but perhaps this is attributable to the small stage. Dancers seemed to not have practiced together before the show. If you have never seen this play, you will likely enjoy it and it would make for a happy afternoon or evening. If you have seen it before though, you will feel like you were shortchanged somehow.v:) This SHOULD be appropriate for children but the brevity of clothes and the scene with two characters on top of each other on the floor spoiled that for bringing your kids.
