Skippyjon Jones

Skippyjon Jones at Walnut Street Theatre

Why see Skippyjon Jones?

The fiesty feline fencer gets his own show!

The charming story about a kitten with giant ears is coming to the Philadelphia stage! Judy Schachner's cute-as-buttons creation gets his own family oriented musical, as part of the Walnut Street Theatre spring 2017 season. With music and lyrics deftly created by Nick Martin and a book by Linda Daugherty, join Skippyjon as he transforms himself into a sword fighter in old Mexico - as a dog! Will he realize his dreams as the greatest fencer of all time, or will people see through his doggy disguise?

Mass.born author Judy Schachner's adventurous kitten first debuted as a children's picture book in 2001; he is a Siamese kitten with such large ears that he can pass for a Chihuahua dog! A daydreamer, he make-believes that he is a dog, even playing with three imaginary canine pals, Los Chimichangos, much to the amusement of his feline family of four sisters and parents. Since publication, it has won various local children's book awards.
