Why See Walnut Street Theatre: Fancy Nancy?

Her Favourite Color is Fusia

Adapted from the international best-selling children's book series, Fancy Nancy The Musical brings some much needed 'fanciness' to the stage. It follows the exploits of the eponymous Nancy, who as pretty much every young girl knows, loves extravagant costumes, decorating and anything spoken in French. Celebrating creativity and imagination, as well as introducing kids to a whole world of new and fancy vocabulary, Fancy Nancy is a perfect first live experience for young theatre-goers.

Created by Jane O'Connor, Nancy Fancy has sold over 25 million copies worldwide, with the series being translated into 18 languages, and an inspired an infinite number of dressing up parties. This show was originally adapted to the stage by Vital Theatre Company, who have an outstanding track record of bringing children's tv shows live audiences. Their versions always deliver strong moral messages, great audience participation and most importantly, very catchy songs.

What is Fancy Nancy About?

Nancy, Bree, Ronda and Lionel are all auditioning for their first dance recital. Nancy is super confident that she's going to chosen for the lead role, but in fact it's awarded to a different girl. What role does Nancy land? A Tree. She's disappointed of course, but all is not lost! Nancy just has to find a way, with the help of her friends, to bring her usual charm and pizazz to this seemingly underwhelming part.

Did You Know?

Fancy Nancy's surname is Clancy...so yes, that makes her Fancy Nancy Clancy.
