Good Bones is a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer James Ijames (Fat Ham), running with the Arden Theatre Company in February. Presented at the Arcadia Stage and directed by Akeem Davis, the production stars Newton Buchanan, Taysha Marie Canales, Walter DeShields and Kishia Nixon in a story rooted in the lived realities of urban change and gentrification.
Aisha returns to the neighborhood she grew up in to work with developers who will be reshaping its future and revitalizing the area. A brand new sports stadium is to built, and with Aisha working alongside a local contractor with a very different vision for the town than her own, the stage is set for timely questions about what gentrification really means for local communities.
