The Big Friendly Giant at Arden Theatre Company

Why see The Big Friendly Giant?

full of mystery and magic

Roald Dahl's classic story and one of the all time best loved childrens' characters, The Big Friendly Giant, comes to the stage in Philadelphia! Gather the family and follow this charming tale of Sophie, a young orphaned girl who befriends a terrifyingly large but heartwarmingly kind dream-catching giant. Together they embark on an adventure beyond her wildest imagination and, for the first time ever, mutually find a sense of belonging. This delightful production is a perfect treat for all ages!

What's the story?

Awakened at the midnight hour at her orphanage, Sophie is alarmed to see a huge giant catching dreams from the other children. After her initial fear, she joins the Big Friendly Giant on a quest to prevent his fierce, much larger brethren from eating "human beans" (that would be us). Along the way, Sophie and the BFG meet the Queen, the frightening giants, and taste weird foods (anybody for snozzcumbers and frobscottle?), and discovers the reason for his collecting dreams.
