Stunning Aerial Storytelling

A fusion of physical theatre, music, and aerial performance, Hexen: An Ancestral Witch Play looks back at centuries of myth, reframing and reclaiming the stories of women persecuted in moral panics and witch hunts through the ages. Its writer and director Dreya Weber stars in what is a truly spellbinding solo piece, incorporating high-flying aerial routines honed through her years of experience creating aerial choreography for the likes of P!nk, Cher and Taylor Swift. Original music in the production includes songs composed by pop icon P!nk, alongside Weber and Craig Richey.

What is it about?

From ancient healers and herbalists, to independent souls targeted by patriarchal fear and religious hysteria, Hexen… looks at how societal anxieties systematically turned ordinary, strong-willed women into supposed monsters in the eyes of society. Historical grounding meets imaginative storytelling to bring together a story of three female archetypes and the lived experiences they had to endure, having been branded "witches".
