Jesus Christ Superstar

Jesus Christ Superstar at Keswick Theater

Why see Jesus Christ Superstar?

Lloyd Webber's Classic Rock opera

In 1971, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's latest musical debuted on Broadway and the world of musical theater was never the same again. A bombastic rock opera based on the Gospels, Jesus Christ Superstar portrays the last week of Jesus' life, heavily focusing on his relationship with Judas Iscariot. Imbued with modern sensibilities and contemporary political and social themes, this show is about a very human Jesus Christ, one who must reckon with his impending death.

Aside from cleverly bringing the Passion into the 20th Century, Jesus Christ Superstar of course boasts one of Lloyd Webber's most exuberant and exciting scores, including the now classic numbers 'Superstar and 'I Don't Know How to Love Him'. As both a vital part of Broadway history and a top-draw musical, this show is a must-see!

Honestly, I didn’t care for the movie, and thought the television production was embarrassingly bad, so I loved that this was a really well done, accurate to the original broadway cast, production. ... I saw the show on Broadway several years ago and also in Philadelphia a while back. I was very impressed with those shows that I wanted to see it again. I was a little apprehensive on how Keswick theatre would present the show since I was never there before. Well needless to say it was excellent. i would surely recommend this stage play. My seats were great, third row from the front. Children - depends on age to under stand it. Restaurant, corner pub, can"t remember the name but it was good. ... Read more
