Christmas Grandeur

Celebrate the festive season in style as the Philadelphia Orchestra brings you an epic performance of Bach's magical Christmas Oratorio. Originally created between 1733 and 1735, the piece celebrates the key events in the nativity, originally designed to be performed over multiple days. Conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin and featuring the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir and a host of soloists, see in the holiday season with a timeless piece of festive classical music.

A Festive Musical Feast 

Made up of both church and secular compositions with vocal soloists and choral sections, Bach's Christmas Oratorio was intended to be played over six days during the festive period with a day dedicated to each event in the nativity. The original programme included The Birth, The Annunciation of the Shepherds, The Circumcision and naming of Jesus, The Journey of Magi and The Adoration of the Magi.
