Wonderful performance but terrible View from high priced seats

The show was great her voice is beyond unbelievable! Union Station showed why they are one of the best Bluegrass bands in the world. The one thing I don't understand about them though is how do you come to Richmond on the James and not sing your song Richmond on the James?? As far as the Alliance Amphitheater goes, it's a beautiful setting and a beautiful looking facility till you have to go and sit in their seats that are almost flatly laid out so you can't see the stage with someone sitting in front of you. Terrible planning! ... Read more

One of my top 5 concerts of all time

From the very first note, it was apparent why Alison Krauss has been awarded the most Grammy awards of any singer. Her vocal clarity and control is simply beyond measure. Although her performance style is underplayed and not showy, she had the audience hanging on with attention for the full 90 minutes. Alison's on-stage persona is very warm and humorous, but she did not waste a lot of time with small talk, moving through a vast repertoire of new and old material. Musicianship was outstanding by all of the Cox family and 3 of her Union Station veterans. The venue was The Sony Centre in Toronto Ontario and our seats were 2 or 3 rows from the very back of the balcony. We found the concert mix to be incredibly full frequency and clear. I am not easily pleased as I have had a career in professional audio, and I must say it was one of the most enjoyable concert experiences of my life. Many thanks the the 2018 Toronto Jazz Festival for including her in this wonderful annual event. ... Read more

Fantastic concert

This show was a gem from start to finish. I have seen a lot of concerts over the years and was part of a touring act and this was exceptional. The sound, the songs, the musicianship, the singing, the staging, the vibe. This is as good as it gets, in my opinion. At 2 hours, perhaps some were disappointed that some old saws were not played but this group has such an extensive catalogue that something's going to be missed. And it started right on time. Really professional in every way. We loved it. ... Read more
