Anything but simple...

As a person of a certain age I am often conflicted about going to the shows of bands I grew up with. They often sound and look, well, auto-tuned and that is disappointing. Simple Minds have been recording, albeit quietly, for many years since their stadium popularity had subsided. If you heard Our Secrets are The Same, Black and White and or Graffiti Soul etc. then I am not sure you really understand where this band has been and where it now finds itself. The current album a Walk Between Worlds is the perfect melange of contemporary soundscapes and vintage sounds that made the hybrid synth sound so appealing in the first place. Jim's voice sounds as sincere and passionate as ever (as does Sarah Brown's), Charlie still remains underrated and Gordy's's melodic additions supported and countered by the bombastic beauty that is Cherisse Osei make for a well rounded contemporary sound that is far from simple minded. Blew us away!

We honestly never imagined the impressive performance we were about to witness There were two opening bands, Modern English, who sounded great albeit too brief, and Soft Cell, who sadly, should consider hanging it up. From the moment Simple Minds took the stage, they commanded it with precision and an explosive performance! The band was amazing, but even more impressive was how absolutely fabulous lead singer, Jim Kerr, still sounded. How often do we see older bands and the singer just does not have the range anymore. Not the case here! Not only did he sound great, but his energy and stage presence defied his age. It was two hours of incredible energy that will rank in my top all time rock performances. If you have the chance to catch them, DO NOT HESITATE! ... Read more

Fantastic evening

Great and well balanced setlist. Sound quality delivered very well by the L- Acoustics system. Lighting/Video could have been better. Security did not know the rules for recording. Jim’s personal touch and interaction with the Las Vegas crowd was outstanding. Saw them about 3 decades ago, and they are still going strong. Thanks for a great evening to the band and crew. Hope the tour will be out on 4K/BluRay soon. ... Read more
