This is the 3rd year in a row i and my wife went to see the nutcracker in philadelphia. Its amazing to see the feather lite elegant ballet. You wont see one glitch from the dozens of artists on stage.

Captivating production

A three-generational experience that exceeded our expectations. Granddaughter was enthralled with the ballet, music and dancers. She asked who was playing each part, was excited to learn the story behind the ballet and pirouetted all the way home. At six, her mind was dazzled by the entire ballet. The nuances were not lost by her. Our family caught the magic of the dancers energy and vitality. Loved the scenery, the costumes, the wonder. Traditional story though inspired in performance . Recommend the show and the theater lent a tone of grandeur as well

The adult dancers were great--wish there were more scenes of them. The Arabian dance was disappointing (the DC ballet choreography of this is much more engaging). Loved the use of various screens, though the candy-cane set lacked magic--needs more depth. Really didn't enjoy how super kid-centric the production was. The ticket prices are way too expensive to mostly see lots of kids running around the stage.

Act 1 not so good, Act 2 was fantastic.

Was very disappointed with Act 1 which was essentially a bunch of untrained children running around the stage. There was no ballet in the first Act. The second Act was much better with fantastic dancers. The entire showed seemed thrown together except for the solos in Act 2. For the ticket prices (our seats were 125 plus fees) we expected more. My daughters have been involved in ballet since age 3 and have performed in the Nutcracker locally. I really hate to say this, but the local production was as good if not better then this. We expected more from the Philadelphia Ballet. The costumes were nice however.

The Nutcracker is one of my absolute favorite ballets. Having seen it numerous times, I was seriously disappointed in this production. The epic dance scene between the Rat King and the Nutcracker was a group of kids essentially walking around. None of the athleticism within the choreography as I was expecting. The second half with more of the adult dancers was much better. None of the advertisements I'd seen for this performance spoke to the fact that the complex moves normally part of The Nutcracker were removed due to the age of the dancers. I took my daughter-in-law with me and it was her first time seeing a ballet. After this disappointing experience, I will buy tickets to a different show so she can see an intricate ballet.

Sadly, Not The Nutcracker I Love

I was disappointed in the entire Act I. Lackluster and too many dancers from the children's ballet school. For the cost of tickets, I had hoped to see developed talent--not so many children. The pas de deux in Act II, however, redeemed the entire production. Absolutely, absolutely breathtaking.
