Long-time Opera/Art fan for many years and this was the worst "Opera" I've been to -and I've been to a lot of low budget plays/Opera performances. It was packed full of political theater which was distasteful in the perspective setting and took away from the content itself. The vocal performance was erratic and poorly performed at best. The seats the audience ended in were uncomfortable and for the money paid the play was lacking in the essentials to bring the audience into the mind of Edgar Allen Poe. There was no direction to the progression of the story besides that of the poet himself so at times it seemed very unstable. This was our first time at this particular Opera House and I can honestly say that if this is the typical style of theater shown here I would not care to return. The only interesting likeable factors to the performance were the conductor and the Kabuki style performance from the Raven herself. If refunds were available we would have asked for our money back.
