UNDERWHELMING

To start, the plot line of this version of the musical seemed very forced, as songs didn't necessarily fit in with the set at the time they were performed. The set was pretty much the same three walls being turned around and that would constitute a new scene. The acting was subpar as well. I am not saying all the actors were terrible, the person who was casted as Donna was spot on and Rosie and Tania were also spot on. However, Sky was an awful actor and singer as were Harry, Sam, and Bill. Sophie was extremely underwhelming as well. Her voice didnt really fit the part very well, she seemed more likely to be cast in Legally Blonde. That being said if you are viewing solely for the music, then this is for you; however, if you also want to get a sense for the Mama Mia story then this performance was certainly lackluster. Finally, a disclaimer for parents of young kids, the play consisted of multiple expletives and sexual innuendos and refernces to drugs, that weren’t appropriate for kids
