Philadephia Ballet - Cinderella

It's breezy with comedy and an easy-to-swallow morality lesson (be good, treat others kindly) set to Prokofiev's flowing, rapturous score.

Once Upon a Time
Glass slippers and tiaras at the ready, one of ballet's most enduring fairytales heads to the Academy Of Music for a limited run this month! British-born visiting Texas Ballet Theater director Ben Stevenson brings his rags-to-riches tale to Philadelphia audiences, with a gloriously uplifting score by Prokofiev in a charming story of a young woman whose determination of spirit ultimately triumphs over the cruelty endured at the hands of her wicked stepmother. Music, dance and costumes all combine to make this an otherworldly experience for ballet fans new and returning!
Perfect for young ballet fans!
A fantastic way to get children and teenagers engaged with performing arts, this classical-style ballet first premiered in 1970 at the Washington Ballet, and retells the popular fairytale of Cinderella, from her happy beginnings, her tragic upbringing, and eventual happiness at winning over adversity - with a little help from a certain fairy godmother, of course. The world has gone Cinderella-crazy in recent years following the release of Disney's live-action movie, and this cheeky and charming rendition through dance is a delight for all ages.
